The Tenets of Enduring Love Church

We believe that God is love, and love is the whole of it.

We believe the sky is the finest roof ever put over a church.

We believe kindness is the only doctrine.

We believe that two people who love each other have a right to be married, and that any person of good heart may bless that union.

We believe you don’t have to understand the universe to be kind to someone in it.

Our Mission

“The purpose of human life, no matter who is controlling it, is to love whoever is around to be loved.”
— Kurt Vonnegut, The Sirens of Titan

Enduring Love Church exists to ordain ministers who carry these beliefs into the world. We believe that the authority to bless a marriage, comfort the grieving, or celebrate a new life should be available to anyone whose heart calls them to serve.

We do not ask our ministers to subscribe to a particular theological tradition. We ask only that they believe in love, in the dignity of every person, and in the sacred responsibility of showing up for each other in life’s most meaningful moments.

Our History

Enduring Love Church was founded in Milwaukie, Oregon and is incorporated as a religious nonprofit under the laws of the State of Oregon. We hold 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status with the Internal Revenue Service.

Our church was born from a simple conviction: that the power to bless and solemnize the important moments of human life should not be restricted by institutional barriers. Whether you are asked to marry your best friends, baptize a niece, or lead a memorial for someone you loved — you should be able to say yes.
